Shannon was born in beautiful upstate Binghamton, NY, the daughter of a 30 year career professional firefighter and Vietnam Veteran, and a stay at home mother who was cafeteria staff at the Mother Seton School. She received her Masters of Science in Elementary Education degree with a background in Technology at the State University of New York at Cortland, and a second Masters of Science Education degree for Students with Disabilities from Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia. A firm believer in continuing education, she also holds a License of Administration (Rutgers University, 2011), as well as several other teaching and administration licenses between New York and New Jersey. Shannon and her two children have resided in Garwood since 2020, when she accepted a position at a well-respected elementary school in Edison, NJ. Her 24-year career and passion to serve has led her to participate in many leadership committees including a membership of her School Leadership Team (SLT) and a Head Union Representative in both Brooklyn and Edison, all while being an involved mother with two young children in sports, music and other recreational activities. Shannon further spends her free time by volunteering at after school activities at her school in Edison, creating and facilitating professional development courses for other educators, and attending continuing education courses to expand her own wealth of knowledge. Shannon has also joined her community's parish, St. Anne’s, and is looking forward to getting both herself and her children further involved in the community through the church outlet. The opportunities for involvement, improvement and education in this “Small Town With a Big Heart” are endless.
